I got one of those monitor things that you plug in between the appliance and the mains. I was surprised by how little some of these presses draw - mainly due to the way that that they cut off and reduce drain once the temperature has been reached and only draw again when the temperature drops.

It's not like it's drawing constantly, except when heating up for the first time - so common sense, such as not letting the presses go cold between jobs (i.e. doing several jobs in one sitting rather than stretched throughout the day) will save on the old bills.

The costs for using a press are quite a marginal expense. Using a flat press to print up just one tee would use no more than about 15 minutes electricity (including warm up). About 6p at current energy rates. A mug press would typically cost less than 2p to print up a solitary mug.
