Aaaagh help please colour problem ricoh3300
Re: Aaaagh help please colour problem ricoh3300
Hello me again,
When printing reds the shade is coming out totally different to the photoshop image ,e,g the bright red is a dark cherry red. Most colours look darker on the mugs. I did lighten some images but that only made everything look washed out. I am using the powerdriver. Do i need to select "No colour Management" in photoshop but cant find it in printer preferences. I really need to accurately reproduce colours on mug (essential).
Any advice gratefully received before i run through another batch of mugs:mad:
Thanks
Alan

If you look on the left hand side of the "print" box there is a drop down list called color handling. You have to select no colour management in there.
Re: Aaaagh help please colour problem ricoh3300
You don't need to tweak anything in Photoshop if you are using PowerDriver. Try just saving your image as a jpg and open it in the Windows fax and picture viewer (or in Word) and print. Powerdriver will handle all the colour management issues regardless of which graphics package you are using.
Make the image smaller, print it as suggested and press to a blank space on an existing mug. Be careful about the times and temp with the Ricoh printers. What press are you using and what temp settings do you have?

Its a good job normal inks don't take this much trouble otherwise no one would ever buy a printer.
Ride it like you stole it shiny side up.
Re: Aaaagh help please colour problem ricoh3300
Is that 3 mins from when you put the mug in or 3 mins from when it get to 180 degrees again?
Re: Aaaagh help please colour problem ricoh3300
Might be a little too long. Try 3.5 minutes from when the mug goes into the press (or as low as 3 minutes).
Re: Aaaagh help please colour problem ricoh3300
sorry Martin i may be being a little dense here. The mug is in the press for 3 mins in total after the press reaches 180. My big problem seems to be with just one colour - red. the yellow tone etc are just fine.
Re: Aaaagh help please colour problem ricoh3300
The test is really to confirm if the red is going off because you're pressing too long. The Ricoh printer inks don't need so long to sublimate so the darker red could be caused by pressing for too long. The yellow inks aren't so dense on paper so these should still reproduce okay.
