I have been doing my canvases for around 2 years now, I take around 15 to 20 shots then let them pick the ones they like. I have always offered them at the same price (check them out www.lifeinart.co.uk ), and I charge £25 for the disc but they do have to buy a product first. The dye sub seems to be the natural progression now and that's what I'm doing, as I say I want to offer them at a fair price. Not too much and not too little.

its the "profesional photorpah" thats hurt me so... I tak you know all about your camera as stuff how to set manual exposure, shutter speed, composition etc... if so you got the skills. no many people got a brain for this stuff. so I dont think people who own those skils are charging to much. photography always was luxury coz not every one can take descent photo.

please can you just answer me one question? If you will hold little, tiny compact camera on your stand would you bring as many customers as you doing now??

I agree with Paul on this one having been a working professional photographer for a few decades I have seen how the photographic industry has declined with the advent of digital cameras. Anyone with a digital camera thinks that they are a pro now. Standards have dropped and the rubbish that is accepted is tragic. Never sell yourself short. Just because you can produce an image for next to nothing doesn't mean that you have to give it away. By cheapening your skills you are saying that your photographs are not worth anything but the substrate that you are printing them onto.

I'm not claiming to be a professional, if you quote me correctly I said "results are of a professional quality". Of course I know how to use the camera, I have got some amazing shots and I have not lost a job from people not liking my shots. And it's not about the camera it's how you use it and the photographers eye. I do wholesale printing for photographers and some keep a handy click and go with them, some of the shots are great and they sell them for allot of money.

I didn't start this post to question my own skills, I just want some advice on pricing.

for me is this same. regards to pricing. thats what I am tlking about. sell your shoots. not give them away...

I want to sell the product not the shot the fact its free gets me the job in the first place, it's making it an impulse product.

What do you sell your products for?

I am not in business in sublimation. this is only hobby. I sell more my photos

Its horses for courses - if the guys making a living doing it, why knock him. He's found a niche market, its legal, and it's working for him.
Its not a full studio session he's giving away here, its a few good point and shoot posed images that look good on a promotional item.

Work out your hourly rate from your expenses/over heads and this will give you an idea of what you should be charging. Also check out similar operations and price accordingly.

I don't mean to be picky here buts its not a few point and shot images, they are good quality shots that could have come from any studio. I'm really proud of the products I make. They take pride and place in peoples homes.

I use the best materials the best inks and the best printer, I want to add these new products to compliment my service not undervalue it.
