Re: UK mug press

Post by Bob700 »

Hi
Does anyone have a setting for the UK mug press, I'm overcooking at 204c temp and 460 time it's the only way I can get a good image but it fades very quickly from the top and I don't want to sell mugs that fade quick, I use sawgrass ink and A-Sub paper pressure quite heavy. I tried 180c for 200 seconds but the image didn't print.
Thanks

When you say fading at the top, could this be because the mugs are slightly tapered?

180c for 180 secs is usual starting point.

Post some images of your mugs with those settings you mentioned.

Hi
No the mugs are standard 11oz from MDP it starts with horizontal lines at the top then after a few weeks they start to fade from the top down, i don't have any pics of them, as I say at 200c for 200 seconds the image won't adhere to the mug

Pressure doesn't need to be heavy, just needs to wrap around the mug well so medium normally ok.

So the image I disappearing afterwards? Sounds like a mug/coating issue to me. Have you tried other mugs?

I assume you've checked profile and software settings, wouldn't explain the fading but just good to check.

Are the mugs all from same supplier, i.e possibly same batch?

You should be able to edit your profile to change email address, any problems just drop me a quick PM and I can sort it for you.

My first action would be to try different mugs and rule that out. What printer are you using? Have you checked the temp at the blanket?

Can you change the blanket to see if the problem still occurs?
