HPD Heat Presses - Any Good?

I am currently using a Stahls Hotronix Fusion heat press and looking to add an additional press for sublimation.

I've not got the funds to buy another Fusion so was looking at the HPD presses that xpres and DyeSublimationSupplies sell.

Does anyone have one and are they any good?

Interested in any thoughts/reviews.

Not used one but they are sold by reputable companies so they are not going to be completely useless. The only problem is that if there is a problem you will have to pay to return it to the supplier, which could be expensive due to the weight.

Are you looking for a flat bed press or a mug press? If looking for a flatbed then a used Pressmech would be the way to go.

Looking for a flat press. We use ovens for mugs as we do far too many to cope with mug presses now haha.

Yeh I had looked at Pressmech presses. I believe the one that Novachrome sells is a Pressmech but I have to say I’m drawn to the pneumatic HPD press to reduce the strain a bit when we are pressing 100+ sheets of coasters.

Wow! £895+Vat is cheap for a pneaumatic press! For £1395 I would be tempted to go for the twin platen model.
I might be wrong but those presses look very similar to the ones made by a Chinese company called Microtec, who make very good quality 'own brand' presses for companies around the world.

Novachrome stock the Pressmech pneumatic press biut at nearly £3k it is a completely different ball game to the HPD presses.

Just jumping back onto this thread as still contemplating which press to go with.

I’ve not seen MEM presses available in the U.K. - there are cheap knock off looking presses on eBay (which is funny seeing as MEM are knock offs of Stahls presses), but not seen actual MEM presses.

The more I’ve looked into the HPD presses that xpres are selling, the more they definitely look like Microtec presses. The only Microtec brand I can find reviews of are Secabo presses from several years ago which seem to be a mixed bag but I feel like with xpres, the support is there at least.

I’ve looked at the Pressmech machines as I do like to support British manufacturers as much as possible, but what puts me off more than the price is that they’re all swing away presses rather than pull out drawers. Not a huge issue but something I’m trying to avoid as an inconvenience with the workflow setup I want to create. That said, I don’t have £2K+ at the moment to spare.

The main reason I’m looking for a pneumatic press is that I’m starting to struggle with the joints in my hands. It’s only one finger in each hand at the moment (though on one hand it’s my thumb), and I am managing to cope with it but it’s making gripping things painful on occasion and I suspect it’s only going to get worse so thinking the pneumatic will be easier on my hands than pulling down a lever.
