Re: What's the Best Epson Ecotank for sublimation

Post by TheCreatievGuy »

I'm new to this and wondering what is the best Ecotank to go for, for use in sublimation. I've read up on how to concert them.

So I'm asking what's the best Ecotank and ICC profile to use for this purpose. I will be using a Mac - for reference my ET-7750 I use for normal print plays perfectly fine with Max and the latest OS.

I'm aware of sawgrass, read up on the SG500 - seen the bad reviews. Don't want to buy a secondhand SG400.

So please, no replies saying get a Sawgrass.

We've used and recently sold the 2750 & 2850, both very good printers that cost almost nothing to run. Acceptable print quality for a 4 colour.

Thanks for your input, however I don't want to settle for acceptable print quality. If I'm going to sell sublimated products I need the quality to be really good.

If you sold your 2750 and 2850, did you replace them with something else, if so, what please?

What type of designs are you printing? We print artists/designers work and obviously and rightly they are fussy about colours. 4 colour is perfectly acceptable for day to work work and can provide very high quality. I do agree that acceptable isn't enough for us either. We work with 6 colour printers minimum even on day to day low quality images. 8 colour etc. will always be better for skin tones, gradients and so on but it's whether your work can justify the investment...and needs to?

We sold both A4's as they were just used to print onto mug sized paper and we weren't using them enough.

So day to day printing, not high level artwork or portraits for example?

It will also depend on the size of your products.
An a4 printer won’t be any good if your substrate is a3.

Inkexperts sell a4 and a3 ecotanks including icc profiles.
im not running Mac so I can’t comment on using an icc profile on a Mac.

The Sawgrass VJ628 is the obvious one. 24" wide but you will be limited to expensive ink.
