Re: Adkins Beta Maxi Digital light not working

Post by Barad »

Hi all, happy new year and thanks for having me here,

I hope you don't mind me asking,

My friend has an old Adkins Beta Maxi that he has offered me, however whilst it switches on, the digital read out on the display does not seem to be coming on.

Has anyone got any experience with this and have any suggestion on what the issue/ fix could be and how easy it would be.

Thank you in advance,
Barad

Had the same many years ago, at the time I was told the only fix was a replacement screen and it was about £100 back then! Not sure if you could maybe source a similar part yourself? Mine want gone completely just some parts of the display so I just ran with it.

Just tO check, it is heating up? If there's power and it's heating then it's the display otherwise could be the fuse.

No experience at all with Adkins presses, but I believe they were bought out by Xpres. This might be the offending part, but I'd advise contacting Xpres directly.

They were indeed. £250+VAT for that part is ridiculous.

Hi Justin, thank you and the others for you input. Yes, the press is heating up. The display is just refusing to function.

On the Adkins take over subject does anyone know if they kept on any of the engineers who repaired and maintained presses, you used to be able to get a loan one while they serviced or repaired yours, I spoke to one once who was really helpful when I asked how to recalibrate the temperature settings, sadly I can’t now remember how to do it though! Mines maybe a few degrees out but I always use a heat gun to check it though.

Hi There we have a problem with ours will not power up - green switch does nothing. Checked exterior socket and plug, put new fuses in - nothing - but here's the interesting thing - there was an 8 amp fuse in there but wiring diagram shows 16 amp. does that mean that the two fuse sockets added making 16 or should there be a 16 amp fuse in each holder?
Thanks
