Does anyone have any instructions for changing a damper in a bn-20?

Just paid £350 to have one changed and I cant afford to be paying another £499 they want for the other three :(
I need to change the captop too if there's any info on that?

Cheers.

Bit the bullet and purchased three new dampers and a captop from digiprint supplies.
Now I just need to figure out how to fit the damn things.

So an update on this I think I need help.

Fitted the new captop easy. skill level req 3/10
Fitted the new dampers ok. Skill level req 7/10

before fitting new dampers nozzle check was 100%
now at best it’s probably 70% the odd thing is it’s different nozzles dropping off.

I can do a clean and test print and have missing nozzles along the centre then repeat the clean and then centre reappear and the bottom ones disappear and so on.

I have completed around 10 powerful cleans and 10 medium cleans and now down to 20% on my inks :(

If anyone knows a reason why this is happening I would be very grateful.
What have I done wrong?

changing dampers with 100% nozzles? :o
why?
check if head is bang on on the capping station. if there is no vacuum then you will have issues.

I had the first changed because it was dropping off the cyan completely then coming back a new damper solved it.
Then it started happening with the magenta.

So I changed the other dampers and now have this issue.
how can I check the captop is making a seal?

It sounds to me if you have a vacuum problem which is quite common when doing the maintenance yourself. It's almost as if they give you instructions but miss that little bit of info about how to insure a perfect seal!

Firstly I would check all the connections to make sure there is no rogue hair or dried ink. Even the smallest of debris can create a big enough break in the seal to cause issues. I would also check the seal around the capping station and give that a good clean.

If all are good then and your inks are in date then I would probably call the engineer.

As much as that sucks think about the amount of money you are losing in jobs and also the amount of money it will cost you if you do not get it fixed properly. Sorry to bear the bad news on costs, but deep down you probably know this anyway.

The good news is that if the nozzle check is variable, at east your print head is good ;-)

The only way I know that you can check the vacuum on a printer is by turning the machine off, disconnecting the waste ink tube AFTER the capping station, inserting a syringe and tring to pull ink through. If it is near on impossible to pull ink through then your seals are good.

Please note that I habe only ever done this for a cheap Epson. Please double check from as many other sources as possible that you can do this on a Roland as I would not want to be responsible for it going wrong.

Well it’s been a nightmare but I will never order from digiprint supplies Ever again.

I purchased genuine Roland captop and dampers and it’s back to 100% nozzle check.
it looks as if the captop was the main issue.
