Colours have changed - No idea why!
Re: Colours have changed - No idea why!
I have been using Ink Experts paper for about 3 years, along with Sublinova smart inks and never had any issues, until recently.
All of a sudden my prints are less bright, not quite the right colour and not pressing very well. I was using an Epson 2710 printer and yes I have the correct profiles installed (or I would have had issues from the outset)
I original thought it was a printer and paper issue but changing to a different printer (Epson Workforce 7310) and different brand of paper (Inktec) made no difference I'm also using the correct profile for these brands.
Does anyone have any idea on what might have happened as I'm pulling my hair out changing printer settings, but I just cant get the images back to how they used to be.It has to be a setting on my PC that has changed as you cant tell me that 2 printers and 2 different brands produce the same results. I'm using GIMP on my PC to make the prints, if its a setting in here that I have accidentally changed, then I have no idea what it could be or maybe an update has caused it.
Hope someone can help?

Might help if you tell us what substrates you're printing on - t-shirts, mugs, coasters, aluminium, ...?

MDF coasters, mugs.webtrekker;152849 wrote:Might help if you tell us what substrates you're printing on - t-shirts, mugs, coasters, aluminium, ...?
The issue is with the actual printing, not the sublimation process.I can compare an old print with a new one and they are very different despite the printing settings being unchanged.

Re: Colours have changed - No idea why!
Ok, thanks.
Since we've had a lot of damp weather lately could the print quality have degraded due to the paper not being completely dry? Just a thought and admittedly clutching at straws!

Re: Colours have changed - No idea why!
The paper is sealed in its original bag, so isn't exposed. and I've just had new paper (different brand as per the original post) and that should not be affected.

No, its using the ICM profile for my ink and printer and is not set to RGBpw66;152853 wrote:Have you set the colour space in Gimp to CMYK by mistake?

We have a winner......GazzaBJ;152855 wrote: and is not set to RGB
Gimp should be using the RGB colourspace. Your printer is expecting an RGB file which it then converts to the CMYK inkset being used. If you send a CMYK file the printer still converts it, skewing the colours.

The image is converted from RGB to the ICM profile, hence its using the correct colour space.pw66;152856 wrote:We have a winner......

If I print in RGB the colours are even more skewed or are you talking about a different setting that I am not aware of?
Example, image left is correct colour, image right is what I'm getting now.

The image shows a pressed product not the actual print you are having issues with.
this has to be a software issue if you have changed printer and paper with the same result.
Post up screen shots of your settings pages.
