Re: ET-18100 printing issues - blue presses green

Post by nsh23 »

Hi all,

I am new to sublimation but have a technical background so not a complete novice! I have purchased the ET-18100 via ink express and have the ICC profile installed. I've been testing my mug press and I'm happy with the majority of colours but blue is pressing green every single time.

Does anyone know what the issue might be? Attached are some example images.

Thanks in advance.

Hard to see because screen shots show up too small on the forum.
What are you clicking under the 'advanced' tab when you select custom colour correction? You should be dissabling ICC correction at the printer end and enabling it in the designn software (colours handled by app).

You should be exporting your graphics as RGB not CMYK.

Thanks for your quick reply. In advanced I've got no color management set.
Would you export your images as png or photoshop files? Thanks

I print direct from the the design package, so I don't export a file for sublimation. In photo shop you will have the option off allowing photo shop to handle colours when you send images to the printer. Sellect that and turn the corresponding function OFF on the printer.
There must be some way on the et L18100 to switch off colour correction. Not many on the forum have used that printer yet - most are still using the Epson 1500w or Sawgrass printers - so best check with the seller.

Interesting to see Ink Express are quicker to market than Ink Experts. The latter have had the same mode on test for some time to ensure it works well.

What inks are you using in the printer?

I'm using the inktec sublinova inks. I've done a nozzle check and all colours seem to be correct and no issues on the print out.

But are you using the profiles correctly? If you tell us what design software you are printing from then someone will be able to help you more.

As far as i'm aware - colour management in the printer settings is switched off and using the app managing the print out with the icc profile selected. Paper as Epson Matt and print quality high. I've tried perceptual, relative and all result in the same for blues turning green. I've tried two different presses so it doesn't appear to be a temperature/time issue. I've tried different profiles in Adobe - Adobe 1998 and SRGB to see if it made a difference but hasn't. Also tried with own created images rather than the Etsy purchased ones with the same colour range and the same result happens.

I had noticed over the weekend that Ink Experts now have the 6 Sublinova inks with icc profile listed for the ET-18100 so i've ordered that and paper from them so will see if their profile works better.

Could well be the profile. An ICC is very specific to the ink, paper and printer and to a lesser extent to the substrate being printed onto.

I'm really hoping it's that! I've tried on mugs, polyester fabric etc and all the same result. Will update once i've tested the new profile.
