Mug printing colours off - shades of brown are looking purple / violet

Hi,

I've posted a picture showing the problem.

Equipment & settings used:

Epson L1800 printer.

Adkins twin mug press.

Sublimation paper ready cut mug size 120g style.

Ink Experts icc profile style/ceramic on affinity designer.

180 seconds at 200 degrees.

I've printed other mugs today mostly green and red in the designs and they look fine.

This is supposed to look like different shades of a brew, so milky brown to dark brown but it's looking violet / purple. I've tried swapping from relative colourmetric to perceptual but no difference.

Any suggestions very much appreciated.

Unless you clibate your monitor then the colours you see on-screen will not be the colours that are printed. An easy workaround is to print off some colour charts so that you know which colour values you need for specific colours.

Is this an issue that has just started or has this been from the first print?
You might not have the icc profile activated in settings if this is from the first print.

Yes I'm pretty sure the ICC profiles are activated. I followed the instructions video and they appear in the colour management - printer profile settings within the print menu.

You need to turn colour management OFF in the printers own print dialogue and ON in the print menu of the graphics software.

There are many available for free on the net. Just make sure they are RGB and not CMYK.

Here's a site with a good range of charts.

Just pick ones with the colours you are having problems with and print the chart then press it onto the substrate (eg. mug) and then you are able to compare with the colours shown on your monitor. You are now able to set colours that press correctly even if they look a bit weird on your monitor.

I've just downloaded the charts, I will sublimate to some mugs tomorrow. Thanks that was a huge help, the learning curve continues!
