I grew up with my dad working with trucks until he retired.
Foden commercials. Scania, Renault trucks and Mercedes commercials.
I too worked as a parts manager.
now growing up my dad would bring home many an exciting thing for me to play with amount them flashing lights air horns and the best thing ever CB radios.
at the age of 8 I was a pro on the airwaves (probably not really) I had an 18ft Aerial on a 20ft pole above the roof of our house.
I could reach places I had never heard of.
I stayed on the airwaves until I hit my late 20s and although i do miss the cb Devon just doesn’t have the same amount of breakers as Bristol where I grew up.
Anyone ever into cb or ham radio?

Re: Anyone ever into cb or ham radio?
Spent several years in Shetland Islands when I was younger (before returning with my family for 13 years later on)
My Uncle was a big CB/HAM operator and I'd been interested in CB for years. Living in Shetland gave me a great opportunity to explore this.
We often got strange atmospheric weather which allowed the CB signal to bounce, often landing in other countries and strangely very often in Jersey!
I spent many many hours on the rig when I should have been sleeping, very happy memories.
Funnily enough stumbled over my contacts book just a few days ago.

Re: Anyone ever into cb or ham radio?
My first purchased radio was a cyb
I’m thinking of taking my ham exam but not sure if I would actually use it.
I have a couple of baofeng radios which I listen on but it’s pretty dead here.
The liquidizer was my handle
Had a tonne of rigs through the years but my favourite was my president James.
I loved it so much I hunted down a second
