Royal fu***** mail

Well it’s official Royal Mail is as bad as evri.

32 parcels shipped on the 26th November
24 shipped 28th November.

all with a status of we’ve got it

yet parcels posted 25th onwards are all delivered except a few odd ones.
this has been over two weeks and people are now getting refunded by Etsy and eBay claiming chargebacks and karen emails coming through.

Seriously WTF Royal Mail.
I should have stuck with evri this year.

DPD no longer accepting new deliveries due to overwhelming backlog I heard.

When it’s a mug it’s just not worth using dpd or dhl.
evri have a massive backlog and warehouses stuffed.

our driver says don’t send using Hermes it’s bedlam.
so what choice do I have than Royal Mail.

It's hard this year. I don't do any online giftware but I send most of my larger garment orders through either Royal Mail or DPD.
My local Chamber of Commerce is pushing the 'shop local' thing, but if all my customers did that then Like a lot of us I would lose most of my business.

Just passed our local RM office and they were all outside picketing and waving...I was tempted to wave just part of my hand back

I fully appreciate why they feel the need to strike but surely getting the publics back up isn't going to help. We have to use RM and obviously this is busiest time of year. Their aim is for maximum impact so this is working well for them.

I won't pretend to completely understand the political side of the argument but from my own business point of view they're causing big issues. As courier prices fall they may find the decline in business to be an unfortunate by product of this strike...which always ends in redundencies!

Our postman is still working he and his wife are both posties so no work no money and they have kids and bills like everyone else.

striking is only cutting their own wages what are they going to gain from it?
they have already lost more in wages striking than any pay rise.

Where is all this extra wage coming from?
ambulance staff, nurses, fire brigade, rail workers to name a few.
there’s no money to give so what on earth makes them think striking is going to change anything.

I get it’s hard times and feeding family and heating a house is expensive but under Tory leadership no one is getting any extra wage. In fact we will be lucky to still have a nhs in 5 years time.

I understand there are strikes all over Europe, so it starts to look more like a political thing and not just about money.
We had an email from Evri attaching a photo to prove delivery - no parcel. The photo was of the package and the back end of a dog! Fortunately my wife recognised the dog's rear so we knew who to contact

I had a discussion with a posty who is a friend, and they don't get it. I explained "Mavis" that they deliver to isn't their customer, "Ohh but our customers back us in our strike action" is the common statement. So I explained I am their customer, I pay the bills. Nope still didn't get it. So I tried a different approach. What impact has the strike had on the top brass they are trying to deal with? Answer "mail not being delivered etc". So I tried again with "Who does this cause problems for?". Answer "The MD / CEO etc because they will have to negotiate".
In the end I gave up, they really didn't get it.
Now a DPD sales chap I vaguely know said he has never had it so good, he is just signing companies up. No sales patter, no trying to make appointments.

And so the Royal Mail Union may end up doing the same as the car industry, coal miners, steel workers etc did and destroy the jobs of the workforce they claim to be protecting.

The workforce will have no jobs and no money, the union staff will still have their jobs though.

The strikes have deffo hurt Q4 profit this year, with many customers not purchasing due to the fact that we send through Royal Mail. Whether that be well in advance of Christmas Day, buyers are still unsure. Online stores will need to be switched off earlier that we normally do due to the fact that dates are now RM48 Monday 12th, and RM24 Friday 16th for final shippings through Royal Mail.

Many of the posties around here on our collections thought a deal would've been done before the Black Friday weekend, but going into the New Year, they are worried that maybe this time the Royal Mail have won this fight after not backing down to workers. Time will tell but at the moment, they've not helped small business at all.
