Hi,

I was told by Adkins a few weeks ago that the owner fell ill a while back and the family do not wish to carry the business forward.

Xpres have apparently purchased the stock etc although I am not sure of the full details and if they will replenish stock when gone.

Regards,
David

Adkins is a minor part of their business interests. And having become pretty much a middleman for Chinese manufacturers they were always going to be vulnerable, given the vagaries of Brexit, currency fluctuations and the crazy cost of shipping.

This is sad as such a big name but indeed I worked out many years ago that they often just rebranded hardware like most other retailers. We also ditched all the expensive mug presses for cheaper versions where the replacement mug elements cost £20 as opposed to £80. I presume Xpres bought out the name as well and will try and find out more as have Xpres rep turning up today at work!

TBH if all you are doing is rebadging ODM product your wholesale business is going to be vulnerable, unless you have an exclusivity agreement with your suppliers. It is relatively easy and more profitable for your volume customers to buy direct.
Shame, though.

Wow, end of an era.
Wonder if PressMech will disapear when Dickie decides he's had enough?

Oh god I hope not, but it is hard to find a sensible buyer.

Panther Dryers (screen print) had enough trouble when Charlie Palmer tried to sell to WPS.

I just bought a replacement mug element from xpres and it came with Chinese writing on it. I guess this explains why
