Re: Burning in the center of the mug
I feel like I have tried everything. I have recently changed ink supplier and my old setting burned the mugs badly so I have tried a lot of different settings on a galaxy duo press. 160c idle and 175c pressing temp for 80 seconds is the closed I have got to just a slight burn. No the rest of the image is fine the bottom is faded but I can sort that. The very center of the mug burns no matter what I do. If i go any lower on things I start to get faded edges. Any advice would be very much appreciated.
When I say burn you can see text is a bit blurry and not as crisp as the rest of the mug. This is also on a black background with white text. The white text has a brownness to it.

Re: Burning in the center of the mug
Are you sure it’s not the press too hot in the centre?
It does sound like a faulty heating element to me.
If you have a defect mug laying about put in in the press off centre and see if it burns higher up or lower on the mug this would rule out the press if it’s ok.

Re: Burning in the center of the mug
Can you give more information and pictures as that will really help.
Ideally need to know where you get the ink from, what print settings and paper you are using as well as where you purchased the mugs

Re: Burning in the center of the mug
So I have replaced the the element as I had a spare one. I am struggling still but its more or a burning around the middle of the whole mug now. I have trying 200c for 180 seconds and 160c idle if the closest I can get without fading along the edges. I have tried reducing pressure and doesn't really make any difference and some actually came out worse.
The ink is form inkexperts and using their style paper. with Epson Matte and high quality The print seems fine and the parts that are not burnt look good.
If I go below 200c the edges start to fade. Upping the time didn't appear to solve that

I can't post an image at the moment. I use Signzworld Ox mugs. Don't normally have an issue with them.

Re: Burning in the center of the mug
Given your descriptions and what you have tried so far it can really only be 1 of two things...
You are using decent paper/ink/mugs. Not sure on what mug press you are using as you do not mention this but it either has to be the mug press (machine or element) or the mugs themselves.
It could be that the coating on this particular batch is not up to standard, although this is the least likely of the two options in my opinion.
Try printing a mug where the burned out position is towards the top of the mug (so in a completely different area to previous) and see what happens. If the burning occurs in the same position relative to the press than it has to be the press, if however the burning is still in the same positon as on the previous mugs then it points to an issue with the mugs themselves.
I do realise that this test is not offering a solution but it will tell you where the problem is.

Re: Burning in the center of the mug
It appears it was the paper. maybe it needed different temps that didn't line up with the mugs, I am not sure. I have changed back to my A-sub paper and there is no burning.

Re: Burning in the center of the mug
That's a bit baffling.... if it was the paper I would have assumed the burning would be middle and top of the mug, a lesson for me there. Glad it's all sorted for you and that you are back printing mugs again. It appears it was the paper. maybe it needed different temps that didn't line up with the mugs, I am not sure. I have changed back to my A-sub paper and there is no burning.
