MDP mouse mats

Good evening

I was recently asked if i print mouse mats, as a friend wanted 10 for work.
After a bit of searching online and on here it seemed that mouse mats are not very popular.
Plus there's a few different types/materials etc.

Anyway, i decided to give it a go. Bought 20 from MDP (2 packs of 10), on the basis that i would get a few wrong until i found the right time and temp etc.
There are no printing instructions on the MDP website for times and temps, and the people in the shop (when i went in and asked) told me to google it.

So after Only wasting a couple, i found that my time and temps are
356 degrees F (180C) for 50 seconds with light pressure applied.

The smell is a bit overpowering so i advise to print in a well ventilated area.

A logo in the middle of the mat looks good
A full photo does leave a small light bead around the edge of the picture/mat where the press cant apply the same pressure as the middle.

Hope this helps anyone thinking of printing mouse mats.

Any comments are greatly appreciated as its my first attempt and there's probably someone out there with better knowledge and better advice to give.

It does state on the website 180c for 60 sec.

I have used these also, but I use a medium to firm pressure or you end up with the bleed you mentioned.

I press at 190c for 60s. at first I was having some ghosting issues where the press would lift the paper away when it popped open. but I added a sheet of plain paper on top the silicon sheet which stopped the whole thing jumping when opening.

I do use adhesive spray to attach my images though.

Does the adhesive not effect the quality of the transfer?
I have toyed with the idea of using ( fabric) adhesive when print hi-vis vests, but never got round to trying it.

Not at all.

I only use a small amount as it’s quite tacky.
but once heated it disappears to nothing and is untraceable.
This is where my problems start with ghosting though, once the press pops open (auto open and even when I open it slowly by hand) the transfer was moving and ghosting the print.

Great first mats, we press at 200 degrees and around 50 - 80 seconds depending on how deep the colours are. We use the mats without the black trim so you can get a full print on them.
