Any one in to DTF ?

Just had a go with DTF and it seems quite fun lol.Far better than most of others stuff I thought . Still in the learning process but enjoying it a lot . Anyone in to it in the forum ?.

Interesting to see how it goes. I have been following it for a while. I see a lot of problems with it on Facebook, however I see a lot of problems with basic sublimation on Facebook! I have wondered if actually the problems are due to people trying to cut corners, no consistency and just a lack of a professional approach.

It does look very promising.

It is the way forward, both for volume and one off printing. Ultimately it will make DTG look a bit 'stoneage' in most situations, and eventually it will be the method that replaces multi colour screen printing. For that to happen it will need to transition into a 'hot peel' system to increase pressing speeds.
I would like to see it transition to using transfer paper instead of PET film.

I have got the money put aside for a commercial 24" system in the new year, when there should be a couple more players in the game. At the moment there is a choice between Resolute or RA Smart, or taking a chance on an unsuported system from China.
There is a firm in the US with a system based on the Mutoh VJ628 at about $7000. Potentially that should be a good system as it is based on a tried and tested printer.

Personally I would'nt bother with one of the mickey mouse converted Epsons used by the dinning room table brigade. That seems to be where most of the quality issues lie. If you pay £2-£3K for something with such a short lifespan then you need to get premium price for everything just to get your money back. That rules out any volume sales.
Converted Epsons are great for sublimation, but DTF is a different matter.

Quality wise it is a shame that the process has gone straight to the DIY/home business market, before the proper businesses get a chance to establish the process as a respected production method.

I was looking for this for a while too , But my main worry was the printer issues , mainly while ink issues . Most of the DTF printers are Epson Converts not made for white ink so everyday servicing needed and to make it profitable you print everyday. In my case I have a DTG already so I can do both on my printer . So I could start DTF with out spending additional money on our DTG printer. DTG is manly for cotton Ts but DTF gives the flexibility go on anything . I am loving it so far .

Dysublimation Suppliyers are over priced for everythig unfortunatly .

I see that the DTF version of the Mutoh VJ628 is now in Europe, launched at the Amsterdam show two weeks ago. It sells in USA for less than $8000.
It is only a single printhead machine - but with 8 channels - compared with the two head x 4 channel machines already on the market.

I am just starting to look in to this, to be honest it's mainly for the wife to play around with. I have an old R2880 that hasn't been used for a few years that I plan on converting to DTF for her.
