Ovens to Mug Presses...anyone done it?

I ran a small oven that held six mugs for a while (9 would have been possible), so not quite the same scale. My studio was always cold in the winter so I used a second oven set at 40 degrees to preheat mugs, my random failures became very few. Bonus was I stopped making adjustments from winter to summer.
This would illiminate the cold spots issue.

even in a press I have to preheat especially on full prints

you need to preheat long enought that the thick base on the mug is heated through... at these temps it's too cold to sub so can't over do it

in my press I preheat at 100 degrees for about 3 minutes.. long enough that when I touch the base in the centre it's no longer cold

I have to be honest, in the years that I’ve printed mugs (and we do hundreds a day), we’ve never pre heated a mug, ever.

That being said, I wouldn’t discount it’s benefits and I will definitely give it a try. We have 5 ovens at present so plenty to play with.

We have also just had a quantity of mug presses delivered to help over Christmas and I’ve bought a hot plate to pre heat the bottoms of the mugs.

I only ever do full top to bottom prints... unless it's mid summer the mug bases are too cold and don't sub..

3 - 4 minutes longer if really cold..

They were in for as long as the others were cooking, so the six mugs came out on a tray and were wrapped, then put in the main oven to cook. Leaving them on the tray while I wrapped them kept the warmth in them. So pop the six in the main oven, put a fresh six on the tray, pop in the other oven to warm.

Yes, preheat before wrapping.

I have just dug out my small oven after a lot of searching I found a wrap. 1 mug 15 minutes. The dial shows 175, the thermometer inside shows 205, I doubt either is accurate. Rhino coated mug prints a treat. Just ordered some new wraps.
Reason...?
If there is a problem with my presses in the run up to Christmas, then it's back to the oven!
