Printer suddenly not recognising ICC profile?!
Re: Printer suddenly not recognising ICC profile?!
I have an Epson 2710, I've used it for the last 1-2 years with no problems, but a couple of weeks ago I noticed it is printing as if it's completely ignoring the ICC profile, even though I am doing everything the same as always. Has anyone else had this problem or can suggest any fixes to try?
It is happening of both of my computers. I import my files as jpegs into GIMP and then "convert to colour profile". One computer is using GIMP version 2.10.20, the other is 2.12.24 (updated only this week after trying to fix this). I recently updated the printer, but again, only after it started doing this in an attempt to fix. I always make sure colour management is off in the printer settings. I have done a nozzle check and that's all fine.
I have also tried opening the images to photoshop but that is making no difference either. I have also uninstalled GIMP, my printer and deleted the ICC profile all at the same time, restarted and reinstalled everything but again, no bueno.
I am at a total loss, if anyone has any ideas I'd be incredibly grateful. I need to start printing for Christmas soon and am really worried I wont be able to get this sorted.

You say you have Photosgop so why are you even bothering with Gimp?

@TippyToes
Yes I had a similar issue but in photoshop after windows update.
My colours were off and there was a cream tinge to the background.
It turned out to be settings changed in windows update reset my photoshop.
I went through the settings like I was installing the icc for the first time and it’s fine again now.

I use gimp and photoshop, AI and other programs why not use what your comfortable with.
You are becoming very old and bitter WT.
I had some respect for you a while back and then that went out the window with the maskgate post.

I simply asked why use Gimp when they had Photoshop, a much better alternative.Mrteajunkie;149454 wrote:Why not use gimp?

As for the other subject, which you brought up, not me, then I'll say I'm entitled to my own, informed opinion.

Thanks for your help MrTea. When you say you went through the settings do you mean going through the colour management settings in PS or something else?Mrteajunkie;149449 wrote:wow helpful.

I find it odd that it's happening on 2 laptops, one of which is an older version of Windows which rarely gets updated. I'm starting to think it's the printer itself. I've played with every setting I can find. I'm going to try printing with the sub ICC but sending it to a normal printer next, to at least see if the problem is GIMP etc not converting properly or it's something related to the printer.

Re: Printer suddenly not recognising ICC profile?!
Ah if it’s happening on two separate computers then it may well be the printer.
what I did was start fresh and reinstall the icc profile as if it was a new printer and inks being installed.
It may be different for you though.

Re: Printer suddenly not recognising ICC profile?!
My ICC was just a 'right click, install' thingy, and that's it. I just installed GIMP, the second oldest Epson driver (in case the newest was the problem) and the icc on a fresh desktop (not connected to WiFi so it couldn't do any sneaky updates) and still the colours are wrong.
I am on the verge of buying a new printer. Strangely I left it unplugged overnight and there was a noticeable difference in tone for absolutely no reason I can fathom.
