Re: Affinity Designer - Printing Workarounds

Post by MattMose »

Hi,

I use Affinity Designer for all my designs and whilst it's amazing for the money I'm having trouble working around a particular issue.

Affinity recognises the Text as black and as such, uses black ink.

Unfortunately it recognises the image (vector graphic) as black, however prints using a mix of CMY. This mix leaves a brown tinge when sublimated.

When I set the printer to print Grayscale only, the sublimated mug comes out perfectly with no burnt brown edge... Only issue is, the eye is now grayscale also.

It appears to be down to the brush that's being used, as when you change brush it reverts to using the K ink and everything is fine

Any guru's on this topic??

Thanks in advance!

Assuming you are using a desktop/small format printer then you should be exporting your artwork in RGB, not CMYK. Counter intuitive, I know, but desktops work in RGB mode and convert the image for CMYK printing.
Changing to RGB could solve the problem, if not convert to rgb and adjust your colour slidders.
