Re: SRace paper not branded anymore or is this a lie?

Post by dalia »

Hi everyone!
I just had an unpleasant situation with a reputable company here in Uk which used to be my supplier for inks and sub paper.
I have always used SRace paper, I love it, never had issues, never wanted to even try something else.
Well, today I received my last order and the paper came in blank white boxes. This usually has a label with the info, brand, weight etc. Now it was blank and the paper, instead of having the “SRace “branding on the back it says “back”. The thickness and weight is also slightly different.

I pointed out that they sent me the wrong item and they are saying this is the correct product and that ” it looks like the manufacturer decided to send the last batch without branding “
Why in the world would a manufacturer decide to stop branding their products and send them as a generic item?

Is there any chance they are telling the truth? Anyone else using SRace? Am I being unreasonable?

If they are genuinely a 'reputable company' then they are taking a big risk in 'passing off' and counterfeiting a branded product. How much can they make by dodgy selling paper? They are either stupid or potless to try it.

Does it print the same as your previous Srace paper?

What you are saying makes a lot of sense and does make me think twice, but why would SRace change things to generic all of a sudden? Why would they give up showing any kind of info on it? This doesn’t have any type of info on it. Surely that is not standard, right? A completely blank box?
It doesn’t make sense in any way.

i haven’t printed on it as It is visibly different and my first instinct was to return it.

Maybe Srace have outsourced manufacture of the paper to a third party? Their main business is making wide format paper rolls, so producing and packing small sheets could be a inconvenient to them.

I like the paper, soI hope it hasn't changed.

You may be right! I’ll keep a box to test it and see if it gives the same results.

Find another supplier who sells it and phone them up to ask if their new supply is white boxed or branded.

Maybe, SRace are just reselling someone else's paper, buy it in unbranded, and stick their sticker on it?
Maybe SRace sell their unbranded paper wholesale to other companies, and they sent you the wholesale version.
