Jigsaws

Hi everyone,

Somebody told me today if you sell jigsaws, you need a special licence and has to be CE tested as they are classed as toys. Is this correct? I was just about to buy some and now they’ve put me off.

I have been selling them and never heard that.

Yes, you may need CE Certification. This is why I never sold any Sand Art kits that I'd designed and intended making with my cutter and bought-in coloured sand. They were classed as Toys .

ALSO be very wary of sublimation kitchenware substrates that can be used to handle hot items such as tea towels, oven pads and oven gloves as these need both a CE label and a care label otherwise illegal. Just before Christmas we had to return all the oven pads bought from signzworld as they had no labels so illegal. In fact they were so thin I did not want to check to see if they would prevent my hand from getting hot. They did not argue and took them back although did not refund postage so I lost money and I hope they pulled any more for sale.

Thanks everyone. Glad I asked before I bought them. Back to the drawing board. I’m not really enjoying my business anymore after 5 years so thought I might give jigsaws a go to change things up a bit. I really appreciate the help

We stopped selling the water bottles after reading all about the cases where children had their tongues stuck in them due to the vacuum! Mainly in the US but also in the UK. Also having tested the same style bottle from every UK supplier at the time we found that none of them work properly either.

I sell them without the pop up lid. They were often faulty, you couldn't pull them up. Still a decent bottle with the screw top, but prefer the stainless steel bottles myself.

Bex, if you clearly label them as a novelty gift item NOT as a toy and not suitable for anyone under 18 you should just about cover yourself.
