Re: Marble mugs, really?

Post by UK Printed Mugs »

OK, I am a little puzzled as to the use of the new marble mugs xpres have got in. I have often given them a list of substrates that would be ideal for them to get in from pre-hemmed tea towels to tins but they say they hardly get new lines in. So all of sudden these mugs appear. Now I do have my cynical hat on although perhaps I should say well done for getting something unique but apart from black text, as in their example, what else is going to work. Only words compared to artwork I am thinking but surely only black colour is going to be suitable. So are these mugs dead in the water or could someone enlighten me to a profitable use?

Probably more use as a retail line, with a slogan or for cafes with a logo, than as a custom printed personalised product.
Any coffee shops or restuarants on your client list?

Often wonder why suppliers don't 'ask' what products we'd like to see. Where better than the forum to do this.

Just saw these myself... Maybe they'll be just what someone wants.. but that's not me at this moment in time. I really don't have an idea what I could do to them apart from using solid text.

Because the marble effect is a trend, whether its passport covers, ornaments whatever. Ceramic mugs are a natural choice for it. Add a cursive font with a heart, add a name, sell it for £3, sell loads at Valentines. Sainsburys will have a copy of it next year. Get in quick before you find a hundred imitations of it.

14oz is a bit big for my liking. Looking at the price I'd want to be selling for a little more than £3ea ;-)

The Xpres mugs are marbled inside as well - "Crafted of coloured porcelain clay, this series of mugs bear highly exquisite marble texture inside and out".

It seems a gold or silver foil looks quite good on them although this of course isn't sublimation nor dishwasher proof:
