Re: Should I stay, or should I go? ...

Post by webtrekker »

Simple question really.

Having had a recent spat in here with a regular member (to remain unnamed), which resulted in me being portrayed as a 'thief,' I asked to be removed as a member, however, Justin has (and probably quite rightly so) decided to not get involved and simply removed the offending thread. Thank you Justin.

This leaves me in the position of wondering whether to continue posting and supporting the forum through my annual Premium Membership payment, or whether to just call it a day and quit for good.

I know I have helped out some members with their problems in the past, but I may have unintentionally offended others, so please complete my poll with an honest answer to help me decide. All votes are anonymous so rest assured, I won't know who votes for, or against me.

My future in this forum is in your hands, as it should be.

Thank you all.

This forum is open on my PC all day while Im at work and I pop in every now and again just to see whats going on. To be honest I haven't seen any negative comments about you. In fact I enjoy some of your posts and you will be missed.

I haven't seen any of the post you describe, and I have no idea who you had the run in with.
If it is a one off disagreement then let it go over your head. If it is a regular occurance then do what you think is best for you.

Not saying that this is the case here, but the problem with any technology centred forum is that they sometimes get dominated by obsessively opinionated people with 'limited' social skills, who are more interested in being seen to comment than in helping to answer the question (one look at the Serif software forum will illustrate that). As yet this forum doesn't seem to have degenerated to that - it still seems friendly and approachable.

Most of your posts are very helpful, but I understand how wearing it can be if someone continually tries to prove you wrong. I recently left another forum because I just couldn't be bothered with constantly dealing with someone with an exaggerated opinion of his own knowledge combined with too much spare time on their hands.
I don't regret leaving that forum- and I haven't missed it - but it would be a shame if you felt you had to leave this forum.

What an utterly bizarre post! I think I read the thread you are talking about and you’re exaggerating.

Feed your own ego mate - don’t expect others to.

As a mod on other forums and an admin on another I see people spit dummies all the time.

Do what you need to, there’s no need to drag others into arguments.
It’s going to end one way or another.

Either ignore it and move on (the adult way)
Or leave because one person has upset you (childish)

I have seen all the posts I actually reported them as this forum doesn’t need crap like this.

We are here to help others and each other and if you can’t do it with a smile (be it fake) then don’t bother.
