Re: Dave from Poppy Signs, Chorley Lancashire
Hi All
I'm Dave and we are Poppy Signs based in Chorley, Lancashire. We are full service sign company and are looking to add dye sublimation printing to our services. It looks really interesting but seems there is a steep learning curve to get it right.
We've been going for 20-years and have the following sign kit - if anyone wants any help, information or general assistance with sign knowledge then fire away and we'll be happy to help.
HP Latex wide format roll printers
Oce wide format UV flatbed and roll printer
Wide format laminators
Esko Kongsberg conveyor digital cutting table with multihead routing and cutting
Rolls Roller applicator table
Banner finishing - welder and eyeletting
Roll cutting plotters
Large bed laser cutter for plastics
4m x 2m ATC CNC
LED workshop
I'm going to take my time reading all the useful threads on here and possibly ask a few questions!
I'm looking forward to being part of DSF
Cheers
Dave

Hi Dave, and welcome. I'm sure you'll be an asset to everyone here and will receive much help in return for any sublimation queries you may have.
There are some serious players in here, along with many hobbyists and small businesses, so you should find a wealth of information to suit your needs.

Hi Dave and welcome to the forum
Always good to talk to someone else who uses Latex. We have a 115 Print & Cut which is currently underused!

Hi Dave
Welcome along and can I tap your knowledge?
A friend of mine wants his boat sign written. Its an off shore boat in North Wales so will be subject to some pretty brutal weather conditions. Is there a particular vinyl you would use for that sort of job?

We did some whilst living 'up North' and Metamark supplied the vinyl and had supplied for use on boats previosuly. I 'think' it was MD7 but worth talking to them.

Yes, Metamark M7 series coloured vinyl is very good and should be suitable for application onto any smooth, sound, flat or slighty curved, non-porous surface. There are so many brands available on the market but look for permanant solvent acrylic adhesive and a polymeric material, or better still a cast material. Make sure the surface is thoroughly cleaned with something like IPA.Justin;145711 wrote:We did some whilst living 'up North' and Metamark supplied the vinyl and had supplied for use on boats previosuly. Hi Justin
Yes, we love the HP latex printers - had every model series since they were first launched and HP keep improving them each time. We mostly use it for printing wraps. They've gone a little quiet on launching a new 64" version though as seems like the 500 series has been out for a while now. Looking forward to them launching a white ink version.
Cheers
