new machine - help

Hi all
i just got my first heat press machine but have a few concerns / questions.

when opening the box the base plate is all scratched (see attached photos) however came with a cloth that appears to go over.. other than cosmetic / and thinking a new machine shouldnt looks like this
is it going to have any detrimental affect on use? (see photos)

secondly on the swing away press there is a foam piece that is starting to peel away. Should this be doing that? (see attached photos) or is this protection cover for transportation that i can peel off ?

That foam pad should be firmly glued to the lower platen, not hanging from the top platen....
