heat plate imprint on polyester
Re: heat plate imprint on polyester
Hi, just curious how do you prevent the "imprint" from teh heat plate into the poylester fabric on a shirt? I sublimated a small shirt for my nephew and the heat press was cleary imprinted in the fabric, i mean there was a line/wrinkle from the edge of the heat plate in the shirt. I got that away when i carefully ironed the shirt afterwards but then it kind of changed the surface of the polyester fabric, it got a little bit more glossy on the areas i used the hot iron but the imprints are gone. Is there a trick to prevent those heat press marks? I am not sure but i think i remember some videos about that problem and they used thin silicon sheets but maybe that was related to another problem.

I read a long time ago about tearing the edges off the paper by hand, ok unless you've got a full page print..I did try it a while back and it seemed to work ok. Also you could try a teflon pad under the garment, supposedly they work too, but never tried as I don't possess any

As mentioend above, splitting the paper (not clearly cutting) can help reduce marks from the paper but won't help marks made by the platen. Check your pressure isn't too high. Using sheets over the print may help. If it's a big problem you can look at raising the shirt/print off the bed a little using special cushions. This way the edge of the platen doesn't come into contact enough to make the marks.
