Protection used when using flatbed heat press - advice needed

Hi,

I have seen that people have a Teflon sheet attached to the upper platen.

And then they use a silicone sheet underneath the medium they are sublimating on and a silicone sheet on top of the medium they are sublimating onto.

Is this normal practice or overkill?
Can the silicone protection sheets be used more than once?

What do you guys do?

Hey SweetPea Ive just seen your location lol. I personally only use a teflon sheet to stop the colors sticking to the heat plate. or on the next print i find i get a ghost print. And if its a double sided item i also use teflon on the bottom so the image dont stick to the rubber mat.

Hi Fletcher, Ha yes we live close (and even closer as Reading is the biggest town near me .. but I live some between Reading and Maidenhead). lol
I didn't fully understand what you meant above. When do you find you get a ghost print?

I use a teflon sheet when im doing high vis items or sublimating and just cover with release paper at the top half
