Re: Equipment Needed

Post by Sal91 »

Hi all,

I am new to the industry, I am wanting to setup a heat press business offering products as mugs, tshirts caps etc from home
I have done some research into it and have a general idea of what I need, so far I have found that I will need an all in one heatpress, a sublimation printer for mugs, a laser printer I believe is the better one for t-shirts (correct me if I'm wrong), a computer/laptop of decent spec to design, software for designing, vinyl cutter, sublimation tape, transfer paper and heat pads.

Can you guys help me in what else I require to get it all up and running.

Thanks

Sal,
You do NOT need an all in one heat press, - unless you want to fail ....

You also want some training / instruction / support, - or you will buy cheap shit, - and fail at making any quality product, - and give up - like so many others do.

spend at least 2 full days reading as many posts as you can on this forum, - start seeing patterns of recommendations.
YOU definitely need support if starting from scratch
AND
you need a point of uniqueness.
WHY would anyone buy your stuff ? - make sure you have a special niche target market that you can be an expert in ....
There are many ways to waste your time and money .... is this the best one for you?

IMHO & Good luck. I do hope you get it right.

Justin - this post got me thinking, that maybe instead of a FAQ (which I know had been asked for many times in the past, and I know there was a popular post years ago, called, "which ink" or "which printer" maybe you could have a pinned posts section, which is a list of the common topics.
The which ink/printer post, is still very valid, but would need a bit of updating (not much though IIRC)
Or maybe a wiki style first post summarising the pinned post beneath it???

I'm in the process of updating the forum and will add these sections when I can.

I did post about this a while ago asking what members would like to see/change.
