Use my SG400 printer to print longer than A4 size?
Re: Use my SG400 printer to print longer than A4 size?
I've got a Sawgrass SG400 A4 printer and I want to print to some papers to sublimate to some Chromablast aluminium panels. The problem is, the panels are slightly longer (about an inch or so) than a standard A4 page (the width is fine, only 7 inches). I'm assuming that if I just buy some A3 sublimation paper (16.5 inches long) and cut it to the width of A4, I can then set up a custom page size and print to a 7x13" size?

I suspect you may need the SG400 bypass tray which allows for sheets and rolls up to 8.5" x 51" long.
I had a quick look and Xpres and other suppliers I checked were out of stock. - Not sure if it's compatible with the new SG500 so may be discontinued.
You could always contact Sawgrass to ask...or there may one of the forum members has has one sat gathering dust.

Maybe a member with a larger format printer could print them off for you if it's not going to be a regular job for you and doesn't warrant buying a bypass tray.

On Epson printers paper size can be customised in the Printing Preferences menu. I can't imagine that the same can't be done on the SG400.
When you set paper sizes, scroll through the list to look for something that allows you to customise paper settings. On the Epson it is called 'user defined' - maybe something similar on the SG.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I have a custom print size setting. I might experiment with some standard A3 I have lying around before I waste any money on a pack of A3 sub paper.
