have seen one come up for sale 'as new' so just want to get some advice before I decide to buy it..

I do not have one, but I know a few people who do and they rave about them.

I have also seen very good results from them as well, so much so that I am considering buying one to see if they really are as good as they say.


Like I say, I do not actually have one, but on another forum I have seen enough people rave about them to peak my interest.

They can produce a decent print and easy enough to use. They don't last that long but element replacements are cheap. In fairness at the cost they are I have no problem with not lasting that long as most presses I have had don't but we do hammer them as they can be running flat out 8hrs a day. Must have gone through well over 20 presses and probably 50 elements but the fact I keep getting more indicates they are decent value for money. I did used to have double adkins presses several years back which were 10 times the cost. Elements probably lasted twice as long but little difference in print quality.

I have 2 Freesubs and love them, but I have heard of some people having problems with the digital counter/temp readout.

Yeah the control units are a bit flakey
The framework isn't as strong as it could be, so if you tighten one press, the one on the other side untightens in a lever/flex fashion

But, they are cheap for what they are - to the point of being disposable once an element goes, as the time (time is money!) it takes to faff about taking one off and putting the new one in, plus the cost of the replacement makes it not really worthwhile

E2A - I have one with one side broken under the mug bench - and two in use - one of them has a dodgy element on one side, and I am in two minds about just buying another, rather than swapping the elements around (until we get a non-busy day for it to be worth the time working on them)

I bought one about a year and a half ago, but it was faulty and I didn't want to be dealing with replacements at Christmas. They seem very inconsistent. I'm not fond of disposable Chinese presses either. Aren't they only guaranteed to last a thousand mug presses or so?

I have one, and they work really well. I normally take it to markets with me as its not too heavy. The results are great. Very cheap for the attachments that come with it. And there's a tutorial video online that runs through how to do your initial set up.

Bit flimsy but for the volume we do not an issue!
