Re: Spray mount adhesive for sub printing ?
Can anyone recommend a spray mount suitable for mounting my sub paper to a blank mouse mat?
I have seen in some youtube tutorials that the Americans especially, tend to use a spray mount type adhesive, as opposed to a heat tape, to hold the paper in position on the blank mouse mat.
I have produced one offs fine in the past, but have just started a run of 200 mats, and already have had the paper slip, as in , the heat tape is not holding it in place.
I have googled it, and looked on my various suppliers websites, but cant see anything.
Any help gratefully received t.i.a,
Chris P

What heat tape are you using? We print hundreds of mouse mats without needing any adhesive spray. We always use 20mm width but of course always careful when turning mat over after taping.

3M 75 Adhesive Spray will do the job.

Just out of curiosity, is there a thick mousepad which doesn't stink? What are you using? The big Scottish guy had to give up this job due to health issues from mousemat printing.

Gooner Gary, Thanks for reccomendation.
The mats im uisng are not smoking as much as some ive used in the past. These current ones are 5mm thick, white rubber. from Coralgraph.

I too have successfully used heat tape previously, just the standard 5 mm or what ever it is? These mats however have a different rubber backing, and the tape isn't staying stuck. I could send for some 20mm tape and try it, but unfortunately time isn't on my side to experiment at this moment.UK Printed Mugs;141609 wrote:What heat tape are you using? Is there a good UK source of 'tacky' sublimation paper. I know S;race do one for fabric, but only their multi-purpose paper is available here.
Re: Spray mount adhesive for sub printing ?
3M 75 spray is what we use when we need some.
InkTec's standard sublimation paper is a little tacky when heated which does help not normally needing spray (using a rotary press rather than flat bed does too)

curious, - doesn't the sprey adhesive create a barrier for the ink to sub through ?

Would screenprinters spray tac work? Possibly cheaper than branded and comes in large aerosols.
Re: Spray mount adhesive for sub printing ?
No noticeable barrier - you only need a very light mist spray - use too much and it leaves you with sticky fabrics - isn't good on hard substrates as much more noticable sticky residue left, which is lost in the fabric fibres on textiles.
