Thanks for the replies everyone, very helpful, does anyone have any ideas on the average cost of a seamstress on a per item basis?

£3.50 per cushion. No zip, just an envelope stitched.

Our seamstress can sew up a cushion with concealed zip in about 5 minutes.
So depending on how many cushions you are thinking of doing, then work out if it's best to hire one onto staff, or outsource as piece work.
