Re: A4 Dye Sub Printer

Post by GermanDyeSub »

Hi everyone,

I am actually starting out in the Dye Sub industry. Will print on small things like mugs, t-shirts etc. My plan is to buy 2 A4 printers, to have one as spare just in case. Soon is the hectic Christmas season here :)

Just trying to get your opinion on what Dye sub printer would be good that can print A4. I'm not really into Sawgrass, but more in the lines of Epson. Heard that they have Ecotanks.

So what are your opinions and is there a good supplier that you would recommend?

I am happy for any help, comment, opinion.

Thanks!

Hi.Epsons, Ricoh's and even Brother machines are all good. My only advice though would be to be careful about keeping a 'spare.' printer. Unless sub printers are used regularly the heads become blocked. I'd advise using your 2 printers in rotation, or keep one unboxed and unused until you deperately need it. Some printers (such as my Ricoh SG3310DN's) are best left switched on 24/7 (in Eco, or Maintenace mode) to ensure the heads never become dried up and blocked.

Hi,

thank you very much for your reply.

Very useful advice. Don't want a clogged head :)

Is there a certain Epson A4 printer that you use yourself or have used, that you think is suitable for someone just starting out.
