well i done my 1st print today :biggrin:

well happy with the results generally

i'm still playing and learning but i'm getting there
i did try and upload a pic of the mug but i can't figure out how to do it

so far i have printed on
mugs 9/10 image is a little bitty but thats my fault with the image quality
fabric coasters 8/10 image is a little dull being on fabric
cork coaster 5/10 cos the plastic coating keeps melting image looks great tho same as the mugs

What is the plastic coating on the cork coasters? Some of the UniSub coasters have a thin film of clear plastic on them to protect them but needs to be removed prior to printing - does this exist on the cork ones you have?

no the supplier would of said when i rung them

they just said it needs teflon paper
i have just tried some with greaseproof paper
they are a lot better but the edges stick to the sub paper for some reason
so you have to be extra careful to remove it

i was recommended to do it on 190 C for 45 secs by a member on here
i was doing them on 200 C

i noticed with the new ones the black isn't quite black its kinda dark blue

i presume the higher the heat the better the ink transfer

the blues have come out lovely haven't tried any other colours yet

Try and peel one of the ones you've printed and you'll probably find it has got a protective coating on it, it's very difficult to see though, and may take a few attempts.

I had blacks coming out wrong until I figured that out, lol

i have picked at 1 with a knife and the wifey has tried as well and i would say no protective covering is on there

Out of curiosity what brand of ink did they supply you with ?

Friendly chap indeed, but you'll find that your ink is not a supported ink that has a supported 'icc profile' so this will lead to a 'world of problems' later on down the line, as an example - putting a photo on a jigsaw or mug.

I know, had experience of this - read one of my previous posts.

what do ppl recommend then for sub ink?
i guess you have to weigh the cost and the quality
RA quoted me £50 for 120ml :O
thats more than double what i paid
with them prices the cost of the products would have to go up considerably just to cover the cost of the ink

not sure how much it actually costs to print an A4 page out full colour
