Re: Issues when pressing Coasters. HELP!

Going out my mind trying to get this right.

So every time I press a coaster it has bubbles? In it.
I've kind of tried everything now.

Any suggestions?

I'm pretty new to all this!

Here's a photo.

Image should be solid background colour

Before printing did you remove the plastic coating from the coaster?

Hi Earl, yeah there is no coating on these coasters.
Found a video online that says it might be due to moisture and using tefal as cover sheet? Advises to use butcher paper instead to absorb it?

Not tried it yet though

Im not a sublimation expert. Leaving the coating on is often a beginners error. I think we´ve all done it.
Hopefully one of the experts on here will chip in with a solution.
Good luck.

What printer, inks and paper are you using? Coaster supplier? Time and temp?

bubbling suggests melting - so I'd look at backing off the temp/pressure/time

I use unisub coasters and they don’t have any coating on either.
I have never had any issues pressing @180c for 60sec with medium pressure

From our experience then these are rather cheap coasters. Are they the cork back ones? If so they have a vinyl top rather than solid and we stopped using them after one day of buying them many years ago. You could try reducing temp to 170c and up time to say 120s but in reality good coasters shouldn't cause you any headaches like this.

Don't use the teflon sheet, If you do need to put something over the top (to protect the platen from stray ink), just use a sheet of greaseproof baking paper, or even a sheet of sub paper.
