Hi I wonder if you can help me. Every time I use the mug press (Genie III mug press) I get white spots on the mug. On the ceramic mugs it is ok as it washes off. But when I use a stainless travel mug I cannot wash the spots off and it doesn’t look great. Do you have any ideas on how to correct this. I have tried using PTFE Teflon sheets around the mug as well as baking sheets but to no avail. It is starting to make our work look poor.
Many thanks

What printer/inks/paper are you using? Can you upload a pic of the issue?

The issue could be the paper, the fibres of the paper may be causing a 'mottled' transfer, this is quite common on metal items as the polymer coating is generally very thin. It may be a case of a little trial and error with the pressure; reduce enough to allow good transfer. If the pressure is too high this can cause the fibres of the paper to show on the transfer.

Could even be dust on the mugs but that would affect the print.

Very true, always a good idea to wash or wipe mugs and blanks before pressing..Justin;138127 wrote:Could even be dust on the mugs but that would affect the print.

Alcohol wipes can be good for wiping down hard blanks, and lint rollers for textiles ... dust in the air can be a nightmare, especially if it's sublimation ink covered dust, which tends to leave little blue marks EVERYWHERE!

Hi thank you all for your replies. We also have a free sub mug heat press which doesn't have a problem using the same paper and printer etc. Printer is Epsom wf 2630 with sublimation ink from ink Express and paper is jet stream transfer paper. Thank you I will try not as much pressure to see if that helps
