Re: New Website

Post by Neilb78 »

Hi just looking at building my own website or getting someone to do it for me.

I have had a look and it seems a minefield so many options.

What I need is the customer to be able to leave a comment on each product, usually the name they want on each item.

Also will need to be able to add discount codes.

I have around 500 products split into different categories and this will grow over time.

We sell a lot on facebook and eBay, idea is to send a leaflet out with each eBay order offering discount if they then order through website.

Also any questions through facebook we get loads, can direct them to website.

Just after some ideas on how to move forward.

many thanks

I'm a big fan of OpenCart personally although many seem to favour Magento. I set up a website for a friend using Weebly and I'm surprised just how flexible it is, very easy as well.
We use Stripe/PayPal for payments.

thanks for your replies, I have chosen wordpress and have found someone off the Fiverr website to build it for me at a good price. I have given him what I want to see, hopefully it will all go to plan.

If on Wordpress, you're likely using WooCommerce as the shop part
Have a look at Divi from Elegant Themes, if you want a page editor that is WYSIWYG to make edits into the future easy.

WordPress is best if you want to do website by yourself. It becomes easy to post and edit without having much knowledge of programming.
