Good luck with the show Justin. You should get a lot of new members when they look and see how good it is!

To be honest, I've never seen the appeal of print shows - I guess I got over visiting trade shows when I was a sound engineer and went to those shows. I'd gladly have my mind changed, but personally I prefer to research online and find what I want that way.
On the otherhand, I will be at the NEC in a couple of weeks, as we're exhibiting at Spring Fair again.

Yes, Justin electric is expensive just for a small wattage socket - you'd have to pay a lot to run a kettle, but even then it would probably work out cheaper than paying NEC prices for coffees for a whole show!

Are you getting people to sign up to the forum at the show? Did the show give you a good deal on the stand price as you aren't technically a business selling anything?

I suppose it depends on your line of work and how you operate. For me personally I much prefer trade shows as a way of looking at new kit & new ideas. I never go to a trade show knowing exactly what I want, but rather go there to research and seek inspiration.

There is no better way than handling something or seeing something in the flesh, Google is fine, but you can’t beat the physical thing.

It also helps to build my relationships with my suppliers and you can only hit loads of suppliers in one go at a trade show.

I know exhibiting there is expensive but I personally don’t think the parking or food and beverage charges at that outrageous.

Justin, I think I might go tomorrow and will wear a pink carnation so you know who I am ;-) ;-) ;-)

At Spring Fair the tickets to attend and parking is free ... interesting it isn't the same for this show.

I can’t be sure, but I think that is the organisers who are being cheap. The NEC will only charge for parking if the organisers are paying less for renting the halls.

It may also be something do with visitor numbers. More visitors (such as the Spring Fair) will make the NEC more money of food and beverages hence no parking charges.

Both of those are pure speculation though.

Yeah, I suppose SF fills the whole of the NEC (and renting stand space isn't exactly cheap for that show either!)
