Applying/splitting graphic over vehicle panel edges

Currently working on a small van design, bit of a noobie question coming up!

I have a print and cut design to go across the back door panels that will cross over the centre gap where the doors open. Obviously I will lose a small amount of the design each side where it wraps over the edges. Do I allow for this in the design or do I just cut off and it looks ok?

Try and design so that small text misses the gap - bear in mind that many small vans have rear doors which split 2/3 , 1/3 rather than in the middle.

Apply as though there is no gap and then slice through with a blade.and either trim back to the edges or wrap the excess around the door edges. Those edges will need to be cleaned on the inners to make sure the adhesive grabs and holds.

That'w what i was trying to do but doors are 1/2 split and text won't line up with gaps in the right place.

Can you adjust the kerning between letters to create space?

Otherwise tell the customer straight that it needs to be changed.

Customers are very good at saying their layout is fine but only complain after it has been cut and fitted.

If you can’t move the text then just apply the vinyl and cut at the join.
As a previous post said just make sure all surfaces are clean.

This the graphic I'm proposing, it will be a single piece print and cut (laminated) so as mentioned above I guess just slitting down the middle and wrapping slightly over the clean edges will suffice.

I tried adjusting text etc. but nothing is working for me.

Don't rely on the outlines for the panel size. I would do a paper template of the rear panel. Print the whole image as a rectangle and then use the template to cut to shape. Alternatively if you have wrapcut or similar you could use that.
