Re: Vinyl Acrylic house signs ...

Post by webtrekker »

I ordered a clear acrylic house sign like the one shown below ...

Image

I cut black sign vinyl for the front of the sign and it looks very nice. However, I was wondering which vinyl to use if I had wanted it on the BACK of the acrylic and not on the front.

When you look at my sign from the back you can see the adhesive, yet my neighbour has a similar sign with the vinyl behind the acrylic and you can't see any traces of adhesive when viewed from the front, so I was wondering if a different vinyl or method was used for that type of sign.

Has anyone done this before?

Just reverse cut the vinyl and apply. Just don’t use a cheep vinyl as that is why you can most probably notice the adhesive.

Thanks Quinsfan. I've just done another little trial, putting a lot more pressure on the vinyl when applying it, and it looks much better.

Now I have another problem! Whether to apply the vinyl to the front or the back. It looks good on the back, and I realise it's more protected from the weather and vandalism that way, but the sign I made with it on the front is much more prominent, especially when viewed from an angle, as the reflections spoil the back-mounted sign.

There within lies the million dollar question.
You can always back the panel up with white vinyl or another colour.
