I really look forward to the opportunity of 'changing my mind'. Would I recommend DTG to people? Yes I would BUT, one must have a thorough understanding or be willing to learn. I'm afraid that some people entering the DTG market have been mislead in order to make a sale. They believe that it's as easy as printing A4 paper with an inkjet printer!
I'm waiting with baited breath
and live in hope that something will emerge.

saw the OKI white in operation via magic touch a couple of days ago and it was mind blowing!! we're seriously considering buying it!!Earl Smith;132554 wrote:Hi Webtrekker , Im sure John will also back me up with this reply.
It is not just the cost of a DTG that needs to be considered , a DTG will need a dedicated operator just for it. Or, at least someone who will/can run the DTG every day. You will need orders coming in daily for it so it can be efficiently used and doesnt clog up.
I tried a DTG and for the first few months things were great. It ran every day. But then I started to get more and more embroidery orders in so the DTG was used less. I just didnt have time to run prints through it. Eventually after leaving it for three days the white was clogged and to get it working again I needed at least half a day to clean it out. This was happening more often than I needed so I got rid of it.
It produces a great print and so far cant be beaten in print quality. I eventually bought an Oki white and with the new RIP program that you buy for the Forever papers it will produce a print more or less like the DTG. The gradients arent there in such quality but ask yourself how often you need a gradient fill. In my work place, not very often.
This new Reveal white system ( once the paper for dark is out and proves itself) could be just what Subli printers are looking for. Im staying with the OKi because Ive invested enough in it and Im happy with it too.

I regularly leave my NeoFlex standing for more than a week without any problems. I run the maintenance when I come to print and all is fine. I program the printer to do a spit & clean every 8 hours - this seems to keep things running fine.Earl Smith;132554 wrote:Hi Webtrekker , Im sure John will also back me up with this reply.

The environment is very important for DTG printers. In the USA and other dry/hot climates, they have to use humidifiers to keep their printers running. In wales, we don't have the same sort of challenges as it's often raining here
I do occasionally hit on problems but my knowledge of the printer gets me through - my hair and patience often thinning though.
I have no idea what the newer breed of DTG printers are like, I'm aware of problems with the Epson Surecolor but the new Brothers and other brands, some costion £100,000 plus, no idea.
I'm more than happy with my NeoFlex, it's still churns out unbelievable prints

Hi Simon, Video as requested,
socialgiraffe;132497 wrote:So I have just seen the video and my immediate reaction is "goodbye DTG". it really has blown me away.
These days with sublimation and digital printing in general there isn't much left to come up with. White ink has always been one of the holy grail's. I have never been that much into garments as I never thought I could compete with other suppliers in my industry who own machines such as a Kornit (about 40 grand). But this system could potentially put me up against them.
One step printing process, a two step pressing process (press image, peel and then press again) means its very easy and very very quick. Unlike a DTG, you could potentially print 50 odd sheets while doing something else and then 50 garments in white will take you about an hour, possibly one hour and 10 minutes ish. A quick calculation in my head based on rough prices of both this system and the DTG system would suggest about the same unit cost. Materials on REVEAL are more expensive, but labour and speed are considerably quicker.
If anyone has a decent DTG and knows their material costs and times then post them here and we can do a better analysis.
Going to keep my eye on this one as it is a winner.
P.S. Steve, keep the video "RAW" like you have, it is good to see the press count down etc etc as it shows how easy the process is and not some marketing BS video that has been edited.
