We have a special area where the "True" campers go. Open topped toilets on a specially converted wagon. Cows and sheep wander in. Floods whenever there is high water in the Rhine. Real campers love it. BUT NO ENAMEL MUGS.

A customer purchased some enamel 'camping mugs' and bought them to us to print!

The issues we have are:

1. The black isn't black - more like a deep brown colour. We're using Ink Express Subli-Sharp inks and I did notice when refilling the carts last weekend that the black ink certainly isn't black! Maybe this is how it's meant to be??

2. Fading of colours towards the edges. The mugs supplied are a PITA as they have a significant silver lip that can't go into the press, and as the mugs are 'short' the only way we can then get even pressure is to use another mug sorta end to end. Still getting fading though.

Anyone got any suggestions or comments?

Use an oven and thermoshrink film (which I think DyeSub Supplies Sell). Someone else had this issue on here and I suggested this and now they have no issues at all.

From my point of view on the original question, I can not see the point of this style of mug in ceramic form. I just don't see it. But loving the debate about real campers or not ;-)

Thanks, I've never tried these heat shrink wraps - will have to give them a go.

I've had a go at this thermo shrink film. It is tricky to use and requires some practice, the material shrinks! So I would recommend getting larger sheets than necessary.
