Hi everyone, just saying a quick hello. Looking forward to learning about sublimation printing. I've just taken delivery of an SG400 and a galaxy mug press. I'm just sitting here waiting for my Truepix paper to arrive! To kick things off I have a few questions:

1) I've kept my SG400 on however the blue power light has gone out is that normal.
2) Has anyone printed from the silhouette design studio software before, thought i'd give that a try as i like designing in there
3) I've noted that i have two print options, i can print to the Sawgrass SG400 or the Virtuoso print manager. Which one should i be using??

Thanks in advance Tracy

I'm not a Sawgrass user but apparently the Sawgrass VPM supports printing from Silhouette Studio.

With regard to the blue power light it's always advisable to keep your printer on standby 24/7 to avoid/reduce print head blockages. You should be able to set this option.

Yes i've kept the printer on, but just wondered if the blue light going out was normal. I assumed it'd stay on, but as i'm new to this printer was unsure.

Hello and welcome to the forum. Long time since I powered up a Ricoh but I deem to remember they go into a power saving mode so light will go out...I could be completely wrong though!

Regards to leaving it on, yes, they do a self clean when required, however, I have known them to purge the ink out of all carts when left on. One advantage with the Ricoh is they can be left off a little longer than many printers so I always used to switch mine off when not in use, no chance of a purge that way.

Like I say, not used Ricoh for some time so the newer SG models 'may' be slightly different, if in doubt check what the latest advice is with your supplier. At least that way if you follow their instructions and something goes wrong.....

I'm assuming the SG400 is much the same as my SG3110DN, in which case the power light should be on continuously when in Energy Saver Mode. If you turn on your printer and leave it for a while after printing it should automatically go into Energy Saver Mode, with the blue power light illuminated. If you switch your printer OFF after a job, by holding in the power switch, then it will remain off and not enter the Energy Saver Mode.

I've left my 3110 switched on, in Energy Saver Mode, for nigh-on 3 years now and very rarely have a blocked nozzle and it uses very little ink in this mode.
