Xpres launch new twin mug press

Been using the single mug version of this for a while now with great results, this looks like a nice piece of kit of not as expensive as I'd expected. I notice they have gone back to upright mug printing with this model.

Hmm, £595 is a bit steep isn't it? Particularly given that you could by four DF1s from BMS for the same price and do twice as many mugs for no extra cost.

What does it do that justifies the high price, apart from putting all your eggs in one basket?

I don't get where the £195 saving is either, given that two DF1s would cost just half that price and save you £300 into the bargain.

It's been a long day and I'm sure I must be missing something here.

(No, I don't work for BMS and I don't have any DF1s ... but I am open to bribes! )

DF1 is a fine enough entry level press but can't compare to the Adkins for quality.

I must have missed where it said "Adkins" in the picture. (Quick check...) Nope, didn't miss it at all, still can't see it.

Nevertheless, it'd need to be pretty spectacular for that kind of price. What's it do that so different? Does the heat blanket last for a million mugs or something?

They're manufactured by Adkins so build quality will be excellent. My press gets as close to the handle as possible, heats up extremely quickly but build quality is the biggest difference. Not done a million mugs yet but have done a few 100, no new blanket so far, unlike the DF1 which had a new blanket after 50 or so mugs

Don't get me wrong, the DF1 is a fine press but if you want a workhorse or something a bit sturdier you can't get much better. I had a George Knight DK3 for a while and that wasn't a patch on this. DK3 were £800 new at that time, single head. Only other half decent twin head I've used was a Novachrome sold unit but had problems with that one. I believe they were £800+ as well.

Anyhow, I'm not selling the things, just letting folk know there's a decent alternative to having 2 seperate presses
