Re: Mug Press issues

Post by MissyH »

Hi guys, I have a couple of questions for you, Firstly I have an issue with my mug press, Now I think I know what the issue might be but just want to check to see if you come up with the same. When pressing mugs the text colours dont come out even ie darker and lighter in a set pattern (from dark to light and back to dark) now this has only been doing it for the past week or so but some colours however do come out looking ok its mainly when the text or photos are in black that its really noticeable.
And secondly does anyone know where I can get childs size mugs from? and would I need a smaller mug wrap for those or would they still fit a standard size wrap press?

thanks

What temp and time are you pressing for?
What type of child mugs are you after - ceramic or plastic?

I am heating mugs on 185 for 210 seconds and until the last week or so it had been fine.

I am after either plastic or ceramic mugs (if you can get plastic sub mugs that is!?!?) People have been asking if I have childsize mugs, would I need a new smaller wrap for those?

Assuming you have reasonably tight pressure around the mug then it sounds like the mug wrap isn't getting to temp or is inconsistent. Try taking the temp up to 200 degrees to see if that helps for 240 seconds.

As for child mugs. There are plastic ones available but you need an insert to the mug otherwise it warps out of shape. I've come across these but don't know who stocks them in the UK. These are about the same size as standard mugs.

If you're looking for a small mug then would these be suitable:

I think TMT also do a smug (small mug) but the last time I saw one of these they didn't look very nice.

You won't be able to press these in a standard mug press as the diameter is too small so you would need a thicker blanket in a mug press.

We will be lauching a mug press with a standard blanket as well as a thicker blanket in the New Year for thinner type mugs/ bottles if there is general interest - this will fit between our DF1 and DF14 mug presses.

Um, so you dont think its time for a new wrap in my press!?! I thought it was that has maybe got a bit old and needed replacing?

With ref to the childs mugs please can you keep me updated as to when you have the blankets for them and then I might try a batch of mugs with the blanket.

Thanks

Well yes, that's what I was implying

The thicker blankets won't fit any press, but if you have our DF1 press then you can get a thicker blanket for thinner mugs/ bottles. These are available now. The mug press that comes with the two blankets will be called the DF12 and once we get through the busy Christmas season we'll launch this on our website, but these are available from us now.
