Re: Printing blue but purple on mug

Post by chrisnameit »

Hi guys,
I'm a newbie to the world of sublimation and got my new kit just this week. I am having an issue with blues at present and can't seem to figure out why this is happening. When creating a blue, or royal blue on the screen, it prints like what I see on the screen but after its been pressed onto the mug it looks purple and not blue at all. I am pressing for 3 mins at 160 as per the manufacturers specification of the mug. My printer is a Sawgrass SG400 and I am using the Sawgrass ICC profile printing direct from Illustrator. I am using the set u for printing as described on the Sawgrass website and using the paper samples the machine came with which are Magic Touch I believe.
Can anyone help me please as I'm really struggling to sort this issue.
Thanks

Have you asked your supplier to take a look at your settings? Sawgrass can also dial in and check for you. Tried printing from other software? Sounds like a profile/setting issue to me.

Would it be related to the profile because the printer will print it blue. But when we sublinstebonto the mug the mug shows purple where the paper is still blue?

Things are usually the other way round, in that the printed colours are way off but sublimate correctly onto your items. For instance, purply-blue on my prints come out as sky blue when pressed, more or less as they appear on my monitor.

I normally press mugs at 180 degrees for 180 seconds.

Also, although you say your printer is an SG400, are you using genuine Sawgrass inks?
