Re: Hotels for Print & promo 2018
I get fed up of staying at these hotels when they ask me how I booked, Booking.com usually (but never again) and they always say, come direct and we'll do it cheaper!

I must say, I always use booking.com and never had a problem or found their prices too high. I avoid Trivago and Expedia as Ive heard bad things about them. Last year I stayed at a hotel near Stuttgard for the trade fair. I booked a year in advance and when I got there I noticed that their prices had gone up in the year since booking. I was still charged the price I was quoted on Booking.com.Justin;128974 wrote:I get fed up of staying at these hotels when they ask me how I booked, Booking.com usually (but never again) and they always say, come direct and we'll do it cheaper!
I guess its all down to luck and the hotel.
Re: Hotels for Print & promo 2018
I am sure the hotel didn't pocket the entire £45 difference, but I did make the booking ( and paid) over the phone directly with the hotel. I wouldn't have minded ( or even known) if they weren't displaying the correct tariff on the counter when I arrived...Justin;128974 wrote:I get fed up of staying at these hotels when they ask me how I booked, Booking.com usually (but never again) and they always say, come direct and we'll do it cheaper!

Looks like there are 4 shows on for the 21st. These Hotels love a bit of supply and demand when it is in their favour. The standard answer you get from them is that they haven't put the prices up, just all the their sale rooms have been taken.

Very nice hotels in Birmingham City Centre as reasonable prices (by comparison) Appears to be some availability, bus or train into NEC shouldn't be an issue.

Eynsham hall is lovely, I live in Witney but booked a premier Inn early December 10 mins from NEC for £42 it was £29 a few weeks before but I procrastinated, book early and it's cheap enough to decide just before whether you stay or not! I usually book earlier for that reason.

Witney was where I took my driving test. One of the first towns alongside Swindon and Hamel Hamstead to have the dustbin lid roundabouts.

Earl, I did too though they stopped doing them here some time ago now, you probably did your hill start on South Lawn hill, I know I did in a Renault 16TX with an umbrella handbrake and column shift, tricky! I also now live in the Road at the top of the hill.

Ended up staying on the Saturday night at the Quality Hotel in Coventry, just 10-minutes away from the NEC and cheap rooms at £35.
