Working with Rock Slate

Hi ive been reading all comments on slate its something I want to do i have good success with coaster size 480 sec 190oc med pressure then i go a size up with same settings and I have a small issue when you look at the slate it looks good but when you tilt the slate under the light you can see small spots bits that seem dull like the gloss finish dull it's like the print did not transfer .
as i use bigger sizes do i need to increase the time? ie added the slate below although you cant see the issue on the photo,the sun rays are on the photo

I use chip shop paper from ebay, cheap and large so can be torn to any size, then used as packaging when scrunched up or squashed in the paper log maker.

Old thread I know, but thanks for the paper log maker suggestion!

Why use chip shop paper rather than cheap copy paper? It seems more expensive. I'm using cheap copy paper, then the teflon to protect the platen which never needs changing.

I use cheap copy paper for anything up to A4 size but try getting cheap copy paper at A3 size. This is where cheap chip shop paper (aka newsprint offcuts) come in handy.

Dirt cheap and comes in large enough sizes to deal with most print jobs

2 sheets of A4! Every A size is double the size of the lower size.

can anyone suggest what i can do with larger size slate that leaves a good clean print with no small bits that look like there is no gloss finish

Used your method for rock slates and seems to work quite well compared with other methods I've tried, although colours are not coming out as vibrant as I would like compared with all the other items I've been printing. Just wondering should I perhaps saturate images when printing for slates?
