No, I think it means the time when your not using your press when it's on maybe?
I know what idle temp is! It's the temperature you set your press on when you are not using it for pressing but still leave it on.
(most often lower than the heat you sue for pressing)

This is what the Time and Motion People look for isn't itidle time

Does that mean if I leave a dud mug in my press it will last longer. 
Ride it like you stole it shiny side up.

If your press has an idle temp then you don't need a dud mug in it because the press does heat past, say 110 degrees, as that is the idle temp. No mug press should go all the way to 180 without a mug in place if you want the blanket to last.
